Clean Up Australia Day

February 2024: Today our students at St Angela of the Cross took part in Clean Up Australia Day, where we cleaned up litter within our school grounds. We used this day to also conduct our litter Audit of our school.

Camp Australia

December 2023: We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Camp Australia to provide both Before and After School Care at St Angela of the Cross in 2024. St Angela of the Cross Art Show

November 2023: The St Angela of the Cross Art Show was a spectacular success! Our new building welcomed the community yesterday to admire the incredible work of our talented students.
From the captivating glow room to the vibrant underwater world in the reef area and the stunning array of flowers, scarecrows and handmade baskets – every display was a masterpiece. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, especially Sara Harris and Michaela Davies for nurturing and guiding these creative minds!

Warragul Police Visit

October 2023: We were delighted to welcome Constable Sam from Warragul Police Station for an information session at St Angela of the Cross.
Our students had a unique opportunity to learn about the history of the Warragul Police Station and gain valuable insights into the vital role of the Police in safeguarding our community.

Stage 2 Building at St Angela of the Cross

September 2023: We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have officially moved into the brand-new Stage 2 building at St Angela of the Cross! This incredible teaching and learning space includes 8 Classrooms, an Art Room, Canteen, and Student Amenities.
Thank you to Crosier Scott Architects, Kubale Constructions and all trades for their work on this magnificent building.

Catholic Education Week

May 2023: The staff and students at St Angela of the Cross are pleased to celebrate the start of Catholic Education Week. “This year’s theme for Catholic Education Week is ‘Let the Words You Speak Always Be Full of Grace,’ based on the Bible Scripture, Colossians 4:6.
Mr. Paul Velten, Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, shares our commitment to promoting kindness, respect, and compassion in our schools and communities. He believes that Catholic schools serve as Places of Encounter where students can grow academically, spiritually, and personally, and that they are much more than just buildings where students come to learn.
This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great work that takes place in Catholic schools every day.

Anzac Day Service

April 2023: Our school leaders attended an ANZAC Day service today and laid a wreath to honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. We are proud of our students for showing their support and representing our school community at this important event

District Athletics

March 2023:Congratulationsto our students for representing St Angela of the Cross at the District Athletics today. Although the weather was unfavourable, we value your persistence and team spirit. We are looking forward to seeing the remainder of our students complete their events early next term.

Collingwood Football Club

February 2023: Our students were fortunate to have a visit from the Collingwood Football Club today. Players Tom Mitchell, Isaac Quaynor, Will Kelly and Edward Allen were fantastic answering many questions from our students and then joined them for a kick of the footy and a game of basketball at lunchtime.

Christmas Concert

December 2022: Yesterday, St Angela of the Cross students finished the 2022 school year with a Christmas Concert and final assembly.

Posisocks

November 2022: To celebrate our involvement in the Posischools program, every Friday the students have been wearing their Posisocks.
Posisocks help inspire a positive mindset and encourage our students to 'start their day on the right foot'.
We are enjoying the positive impact Posischools is having on our school community.

SunSquirt machine

October 2022: St Angela of the Cross is a registered member of Cancer Council Victoria’s SunSmart Program. We are pleased to announce that we now have a SunSquirt machine to help us on our SunSmart mission, where we aim to protect children and staff by reducing their UV exposure. The SunSquirt machine dispenses single measures of the highest quality, specially-engineered SPF50+ Ultra Cancer Council sunscreen. SunSquirt is the only solution officially partnered with the Cancer Council Australia.

Incursion with Author, Adam Wallace

August 2022: In preparation for book week, today our students were treated to an incursion with author and illustrator, Adam Wallace.
Adam Wallace is a children's writer and cartoonist. He is the author of the New York Times bestselling 'How to Catch' series and the 'Accidentally Awesome' series.
Adam engaged with the students through his amazing stories, writing techniques and crazy cartooning exercises.
Thankyou Adam for your visit and for igniting our student’s imagination.

100 Days of School

August 2022: Today we celebrated 100 days of school for our Foundation students. We are a so proud of every student and the amazing growth they have had this year.

Wonder Recycling Rewards

July 2022: Our school is teaming up with Wonder Recycling Rewards again this year to help reduce soft plastic waste in our environment. We are calling on our school community to help. Any soft plastic bread bags that you collect at home can be recycled in our collection box in the front office. The more we collect, the more equipment we can earn!s

Japanese Day

June 2022: Today at St Angela of the Cross we held our whole school's Japanese Day.
We began the day with a prayer using Japanese words, language and gestures before moving students into multi-age group activities exploring Japanese culture, dance, geography and literature.
Students concluded the day by performing a 'Tokyo Ondo' music dance for parents and guardians

Stage 2 commences

June 2022: It is with great excitement that we announce that our Stage 2 building has commenced.
This will see an additional 8 classrooms, specialist art room, canteen and student amenities being constructed.

Catholic Education Week

May 2022: The staff and students at St Angela of the Cross are pleased to celebrate Catholic Education Week.
This year’s theme for Catholic Education Week, is ‘Go out into the world and spread the Good News to all creation’, from the Gospel of Mark 16:15.
The Good News theme is a call for all members of a school community to enact a vision for a better world, one where people can live in harmony with each other and with, in response to the call of Pope Francis, the environment.
This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great work that takes place in Catholic schools every day.

Anzac Day

April 2022: Our School Captains did a wonderful job yesterday morning at the Service in Warragul showing respect and reverence whilst laying our school wreath.

Today our students participated in an ANZAC day liturgy and classroom activities to pay their respects to people past and present who served our country. A day where we remember the sacrifice of men and women who showed great character and resilience for the betterment of our country.

Teddy Bears Picnic

March 2022: Our foundation students had a very special Teddy Bear Picnic. The students have been learning all about the letter T and have participated in a range of hands on learning activities.

Saint Angela Feast Day

March 2022: Today we celebrated the feast day of Saint Angela of the Cross.
Our school is named in honour of Saint Angela of the Cross, who lived in Spain from 1846-1932. Saint Angela dedicated her life to prayer and service to others, and is a wonderful role model for students and their families.
The students have had a busy day of celebrations, starting with a Mass led by Father Confidence and then a special sausage sizzle lunch.
We were excited to welcome our families into the classrooms for an activity followed by our first school assembly.

Ash Wednesday

February 2022: Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Catholic Church’s season of Lent, a special time of preparation, when we stop and think about how we can play our part in God’s hope for a world that is fair, just and peaceful. Today we acknowledged Ash Wednesday with a School Mass. The students were sprinkled with ashes as a symbol to remind us that during Lent we are trying to grow to be more like Jesus.

Shrove Tuesday

February 2022: Today the students at St Angela of the Cross celebrated Shrove Tuesday with a pancake picnic. Shrove Tuesday is a Christian celebration falling on the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent. During Lent, Christians give up luxuries to remember when Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who assisted in cooking and serving pancakes to students and staff.

We are Sunsmart!

February 2022: St Angela of the Cross is proud to be a registered member of Cancer Council Victoria’s SunSmart Program.
We strive to continually educate our community on sun protection safety and SunSmart behaviours are regularly reinforced and promoted.

December 2021: To conclude a fantastic school year, our community came together for an end of year Mass and Christmas Nativity Play. All of our students performed and sang wonderfully. Congratulations to our students on such a positive and rewarding Foundation year at St Angela of the Cross.

December 2021: Our students visited Myuna Farm for their school excursion. The students enjoyed exploring sustainable farming practices and learning how these have changed over time.

Offical Opening and Blessing

November 2021: St Angela of the Cross held a wonderful celebration today as we were able to officially bless and open our school buildings. The Catholic Bishop of Sale, Most Reverend Gregory Bennet was joined by the Director of Catholic Education and Chief Executive Officer of the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited, Ms Maria Kirkwood and Parish Priest, Very Rev Peter Slater, to celebrate the blessing and opening of the school. Member for Monash, The Hon Russell Broadbent MP, also shared a heartfelt video message with the school community to commemorate the day.
The ceremony was a joyous and memorable event for all of our staff, students and official guests.

Day for Daniel

October 2021:St Angela of the Cross Primary School is proud to support Day for Daniel. Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest day of action to raise awareness for child safety, protection, and harm prevention. Held annually on the last Friday of October, Day for Daniel honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe. The theme is ‘Wear Red, Educate and Donate’. Students have been participating in activities aimed to help them recognise, react and report situations that make them feel unsafe. Parents and carers are also encouraged to start a conversation with your children about personal safety.

New Sandpit

October 2021: Our students have had the most wonderful time playing in our newly built sandpit yesterday. Thankyou to our Parents and Friends Committee for their fantastic fundraising efforts and Latrobe Valley Sands for providing the lovely sand to fill this space.

September 2021: To celebrate the AFL Grand Final, last week our students had their very own 'Footy Colours Day'. It was fantastic to see all of our students and staff supporting their favourite teams.

Extend After School Care

September 2021: We are pleased to announce that St Angela of the Cross will offer an After School Care Program in 2022.
Extend’s After School Care Program, develop and nurture young minds with science, cooking, sport and imaginative play. Children’s interests and ideas are central to the program, offering a variety of activities for children to discover, learn and play.
Before School Care will become available in the future as numbers increase.
We look forward to offering this service to our families and welcoming Extend to our community

National Child Protection Week

September 2021: EVERY CHILD, IN EVERY COMMUNITY, NEEDS A FAIR GO!
This year's theme is about the 'bigger picture' in addressing child abuse and neglect. Child Protection Week gives our school an opportunity to translate this knowledge into action and to help create great communities for our children.

Book Week

August 2021: Yesterday, as a part of Book Week, our students dressed up to reflect the 2021 theme of “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”. It was great to see many students getting creative with their costumes and discussing their favourite books and novels!

A huge thankyou to parents and carers for helping support this event with brilliant costumes for our students.

Wonder Recycling Rewards Program

June 2021: It's great to see lots of bread bags and tags being brought into school as part of the Wonder Recycling Rewards Program. We encourage our families to continue collecting throughout the school holidays up until July, 16.

Scienceworks Excursion

May 2021:Excursions are a great opportunity for our students to continue and expand their learning. Our students attended their first excursion and had the opportunity to explore Scienceworks today. The interactive exhibits allowed students to play with science and to challenge their curious minds.
