Dear Parents,
This week St Angela of the Cross is participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action.
Bullying No Way Week is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention. It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for this year’s campaign is Everyone belongs. This theme highlights the importance of creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for students. We recognise bullying often thrives in environments where individuals feel marginalised or excluded, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels valued and respected.
Students will be completing activities in their classrooms based on this theme on Friday and there is no dress up requirement however students may wear a touch of orange with their uniform on this day.
Reminders
Medications
If your child requires prescription or non-prescription medication during school hours, it is important that the medication be brought to the office by a parent or guardian. The medication must be signed in and accompanied by a completed Medication Authority Form, available at the office.
All medications will be stored securely in the office to ensure they are administered safely and in accordance with school policy. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school environment safe for everyone.
Extended absences
Where an extended absence is planned in advance (e.g. a family holiday), parents need to obtain permission for that absence from the school Principal. Requests for extended absences should be submitted in writing, and can be emailed to hello@stangelawarragul.catholic.edu.au. Once permission has been granted that correspondence will be treated as notification for the purposes of our attendance records.
Students are encouraged to dress up and show their amazing outfits during our morning parade which will be held on Friday 23rd August. The parade will take place at the start of the day. Students will parade around the deck at our Stage 2 building and families are welcome to watch from our new sensory garden play space.

Meet Our Specialist Staff | Mrs Michaela Davies
Our families are familiar with classroom teachers... but have you met our Specialist Staff?
This edition we introduce Mrs Michaela Davies who we are fortunate to have here at St Angela of the Cross as our STEM teacher.
Mrs Davies shares with us what is happening within her role;
Gardening Club
On wednesdays students have been tending to our garden with Mrs Davies during lunch time play.
Our STEM sessions recently hosted a thrilling Sphero Mini Olympics, where students combined their love for technology with the excitement of athletic competition!
Opening Ceremony: The session began with an energetic opening ceremony that set the stage for an action-packed event. Students paraded their athletes and homemade flags of different countries. The ceremony included a grand display of our students’ enthusiasm and creativity.
Sprints Challenge: The highlight of the event was the Sphero sprints! Students programmed their Sphero Mini robots to race through a series of timed sprints. The competition was fierce, with each team customizing their robots to achieve the fastest times. The sprints tested both coding skills and strategic planning, as students fine-tuned their robots to gain that crucial edge.
Medal Moments: After a session of high-speed excitement and teamwork, we concluded with an award ceremony. Awards were given to the top-performing teams and individuals for their speed, precision, and creativity.
The Sphero Mini Olympics was a fantastic blend of technology and sport, showcasing our students’ ability to merge STEM learning with physical activity. We’re proud of their efforts and look forward to more innovative and fun events in the future!
Our students had an exciting time combining technology and athleticism in our latest school activity—Beebot’s Olympic Challenge!
In this engaging event, each class participated in an olympic themed activity using Beebots, our friendly programmable robots. The challenge was designed to integrate coding skills with physical movement and creativity.
Students participated in an Olympic event called the 3 meter sprint, while cheering on their classmates. Students also designed flags for different countries and created a Beebot shell to represent their country.
They all did a fantastic job!
First Holy Communion
Our First Holy Communion Program begins soon. A Parent Information Meeting will be held on Thursday 29th August in the Marian Room at St. Joseph's Church, at 7pm. Our guest Speaker is Rev. Dr. Fr.
