Performing Arts
Students have made a great start to Term 2 in Performing Arts.
Homegroup 1
In Home Group 1, Students are continuing to develop their movement skills through music. Some of the activities have included students pretending to be seeds that grow into flowers and caterpillars that turn into butterflies. Students had to concentrate on their body movements as well as the changes in the music.
As well as individual activities, students have been working in teams. Last week students worked in pairs or groups of three pretending to be cars. Person 1 would be the driver and person 2 would be the direction controller by tapping person 1 on the shoulders. This activity along with many others encourage students to develop their teamwork skills and their spacial awareness.
Homegroup 2
Home Group 2 have moved on to more challenging improvisation games including 'Space Jump.' In 'Space Jump' a student jumps into a frozen scene and changes it completely to another scene. This game requires extreme quick thinking and excellent teamwork to drive the next scene to a success.
Last week we worked on creating Interview Scenes. Students would choose a character to interview by a talk show host They had to construct characters and questions to create the scene. Two other students would then pretend to be the talk show host and characters arms. These students would need to listen to what the host and character were saying and match appropriate hand movements and expressions. Students had to use their creativity and improvisation skills to enhance the characters. The students did an amazing job and created some very interesting, entertaining characters!
