Japanese
Literacy means being able to read and write. Literacy can be in any language with a written system.
The “sounds write” program at St Angela’s teaches students how to segment and blend words so they can read.
In Japanese we are doing the same. The students knew exactly what was happening!! They wrote “ashi” (leg) and “ari” (ant) with pictures. Neither of these words have been modelled before. They are words that could be made with other words we learnt from the picture books during the “want” unit. Great learning everyone!
