From the Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
At St Angela of the Cross, we are committed to nurturing a respectful, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all students and families. As part of this commitment, we want to gently remind our community about the importance of not speaking about other children in public settings or on social media.
Discussing another child’s behaviour, learning needs, or experiences - whether in the car park, at events, or online can lead to misunderstandings, spread misinformation, and cause unnecessary hurt. It also goes against our Parent Code of Conduct, which outlines our shared responsibility to respect every child’s privacy and dignity.
Every child follows a unique learning pathway. Their progress, challenges, and needs may look different from others - and that’s not only okay, it’s expected. Our teachers work hard to tailor learning to each student, and comparisons often overlook the individual strengths, goals, and growth happening behind the scenes.
This message is closely linked to Child Safe Standard 4: Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing. One of the key ways we uphold this standard is by working in partnership with families to ensure all children are respected and feel safe - not just physically, but socially and emotionally.
As adults in our school community, we play an important role in modelling kindness, empathy, and discretion. If you ever have concerns or questions, we ask that you bring them directly to your child’s teacher. Should you have any further queries upon discussion with the classroom teacher, this can be directed to school leadership, where they will be addressed appropriately and confidentially.
Together, we can maintain a culture of respect and understanding - one where every student feels safe, valued, and supported.
Warm Regards,
Stephen Pitt | Principal
